Late 19th. century gilded silver brooch with a removable cross pendant,

This cross brooch was presented as a gift from House Habsburg to House Bothmer Schwegerhoff by Maria Teresa of the Austrian Hungarian Empire for loyalty and political support. Note that the current Baron's Grandfather Walter Baron von Bothmer zu Schweggerhoff was the last field marshal of the Austrian Hungarian Empire. The current Barons father was the last Ambassador to the King of Hungary, which was the last visage of the once magnificent Austria Hungarian Empire and before that Baron von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff. Images of Carla von Bothmer zu Droste Hulshoff show her wearing the piece, later it formed part of the Baroness Helene von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff collection.
