Pair of Tischbein oil paintings on canvas. Reputed 10 Downing St. item.
"Portraits of The Duke and Duchess of Braunschweg". These paintings hung behind the desk of Count Johann Casper von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff at 10 Downing St. until his death in 1732. They then returned to Schwegerhoff, were moved to the Droste Museum in Meersburg, Germany in 1948. They were brought to Oregon, USA by Baroness Helene von Bothmer in 1990, where they remained in her collection until her death February 23rd 1995. In 1998 they were brought to Victoria, B.C., Canada by Baron George von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff and his wife Baroness Julie von Bothmer.

The Duke and Duchess were avid supporters of the Counts work to put George Hanover on the throne of England.
