Sohmer and Co. baby grand piano and bench, walnut case, #89117.
Baby Grand Sohmer Piano.

Built in 1939 by the Sohmer Piano Co. in New York by special order for: Mr. & Mrs. Jack Smith of California. The piano was then shipped out to their newly built residence in the Los Feliz area in Los Angeles, California.

Many famous celebrities have played this exceptional piano I.E. Madam Gaby Casadesus, Mr. Leonard Bernstein, Mr. Claude Pascal, Mr. Juan Garcia Esquivel, Mr. Carmen Cavallero, Mr. Alan Copeland, Mr. Danny Kaye, and many others.

The piano was inherited by the daughter, Barbara Smith Reed who is well known as a new age composer. Barbara currently lives in Victoria, B.C., and composed her “Riding The Sea Wind” album on this piano.

This exceptional piano has often been compared to the Bosendorfer pianos because of the unique action and beautiful tone unique to this Sohmer piano.

The piano is mahogany with ivory and teak wood keys. The cabriolet legs remove and make it easy for transporting. It is a stunning piece of artwork as well as a magnificent musical instrument.

The piano comes with a matching mahogany bench with cabriolet legs.
