LOT 30
Early 18th. century mahogany drop leaf shaped top breakfast table. Reputed 10 Downing St item

This table was part of the furnishings Count Johann Caspar von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff brought to number 10 Downing Street, London, England in the early 1700's from Schwegerhoff. It is noted in the family history that on numerous occasions Queen Anne, Count Johann Caspar von Bothmer and George King of Hanover met at this table. It was here that the arrangements of transition were discussed as well as the tranferance of properties, high ranking appointments discussed and drafted regarding the change of Government and inevitable difficulties which would occur after putting George of Hanover on the throne of England and thus establishing the Hanover line as the royal family of England.
